Remko Boevé’s journey in the horticultural industry began at the age of 11 when his parents founded Boevé BV, a company specializing in the trade of tree and shrub seeds, rootstock, and liners. Intrigued by the seed business from a young age, Remko spent his free time assisting his father with tasks ranging from harvesting to cleaning seeds. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Administration, he joined the company full-time and began exploring the South American markets—where the seeds of Patagonia Plants were first sown.

During the early 2000s, Remko traveled extensively to South America on behalf of his family company. Captivated by the breathtaking beauty of Argentina and Chile’s flora and fauna, he partnered with Andrés Casassus of Jardin Pehuen near Santiago to produce native Chilean plants for the European market, and thus, Patagonia Plants was born.
By 2010, the company had successfully imported over 100 different species of native plants from Chile and Argentina.

In 2010, Boevé BV closed its doors. After exploring various ventures in the horticultural industry, Remko decided to reestablish his own company in 2018, leading to the rebirth of Patagonia Plants.

Sadly, Andrés Casassus passed away in 2022, and with Jardin Pehuen ceasing operations, Patagonia Plants sought a new partnership. This search led to a successful collaboration with Cultiva, a CITES-approved producer and leader in national reforestation initiatives. Together with Cultiva, Patagonia Plants is now setting up new production for a wide range of Chilean native plants, with plans to expand its offerings in the coming years.

Though based in the Netherlands, throughout his life, Remko has been enriched by exposure to diverse cultures and languages through the company’s global partnerships. Today, he draws on his vast international network and deep industry expertise to provide clients worldwide with products of the highest quality.
