For over 20 years, Patagonia Plants has been a leader in the global Araucaria araucana market.

Our journey began in the late 1990s when Patagonia Plants began importing Monkey Puzzle Tree seeds from Argentina. However, changes in CITES legislation in 2000 halted this importation.

In response, we forged a pivotal alliance in the early 2000s with Jardin Pehuen, the first Chilean nursery approved by CITES to artificially produce Araucaria araucana seedlings. Although Jardin Pehuen’s founder passed away in 2022, leading to the company’s closure, our commitment to sustainable trade remained steadfast, prompting us to seek new partnerships.

KMS Japan, originally a trader of horticultural products between Japan and Europe, became increasingly involved in the Araucaria business. Since 2010, KMS has been our reliable partner, ensuring the continuity of exceptional products to our customers.

Today, we operate as a joint venture between Patagonia Plants, KMS, and the CITES-approved Chilean producer Cultiva, who play a key role in national reforestation projects, fostering socio-environmental awareness through educational initiatives, and fostering a deep connection between the Chilean people and their land.
