Here you are able to see a short description of our organisation, especially on our South American Plant line known as Patagonia Plants.
The name Patagonia Plants refers to the gorgeous landscape of the most southern parts of Chile and Argentina, called Patagonia. This impressive territory contains one of the most beautiful flora of South America. It was not by chance that, Charles Darwin spent many month exploring these forests, marvelling at what he found. A good amount of our Patagonia Plants range was classified by the naturalist himself! "Patagonia Plants® " is a combined project of Boevé B.V. and Jardín Pehuén , a Chilean nursery and trading company from Santiago. Boevé B.V. is a family run organisation. In the Netherlands you can contact Remko and Bart Boevé, sons of the founders Arie and Sandra Boevé. The founders are currently living in China, where they are leading our Asian production area. Over the past few years close cooperation between both companies has been the basis of a enormous development. Frequent communication and a well developed business relaltionship allows us to meet the needs of our customers and supply them with high quality material and the service and client efficiency as they are used from us. Due to our international view, we are able to maintain our innovative character, in which we constantly strive to put new products on the market.
Frequent communication and yearly field trips in Chile have resulted in a wide selected assortment with plant species suitable for the European market. We supply wholesalers, nurserymen, auctions, landscape designers, gardencentres and arboretums, with:
• semi-finished plants;
• finished plants.
Every year we attempt to introduce new plant species and, depending on obtained cultivation results, add to the Patagonia Plants assortment. The greater part of the plant species is semi-hardy to hardy and that is why, Patagonia Plants are suitable for use in gardens, landscaping and urban greenery.The assortment includes divergent plant categories. We provide you, amongst others, Embothrium coccineum (Chilean Firebush), Araucaria araucana (Monkeypuzzle tree), Jubaea Chilensis (Chilean Wine Palm), Nothofagus (Southern Beech) and Lapageria Rosea (Chilean Bellflower). Furthermore, you will also be able to find several species of bromeliads, ferns, bamboo, palms and aromatic plants. In short we present a wide selection of exclusive South American plants!
One of our most famous products is the widely known Araucana araucana, this rare and unique conifer has been listed in CITES appendix I. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) is an international agreement between Governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. Nowadays, the only possibility to obtain Araucaria is through importing young plant material from Chile. Jardín Pehuén is the sole CITES approved production company of Araucaria araucana seedlings in the world. To complete a waterproof and legal cooperation, Boevé B.V. has vested exclusive rights to import Araucaria from Chile and sell them on the European market. Each lot of Araucaria's will be accompanied with official CITES documents. These documents will prove that cultivation and trade has been carried out in a legal way.
